  Thisthreatwassopalpablydisregarded,thatthoughwithinfiveminutesafterwardsthethreeboysallburstintotheroomtogetherandsatdown,Fannycouldnotconsideritasaproofofanythingmorethantheirbeingforthetimethoroughlyfagged,whichtheirhotfacesandpantingbreathsseemedtoprove,especiallyastheywerestillkickingeachother’sshins,andhallooingoutatsuddenstartsimmediatelyundertheirfather’seye。

  He,completeinhislieutenant’suniform,lookingandmovingallthetaller,firmer,andmoregracefulforit,andwiththehappiestsmileoverhisface,walkedupdirectlytoFanny,who,risingfromherseat,lookedathimforamomentinspeechlessadmiration,andthenthrewherarmsroundhisnecktosobouthervariousemotionsofpainandpleasure。

  Anxiousnottoappearunhappy,shesoonrecoveredherself;

  andwipingawayhertears,wasabletonoticeandadmireallthestrikingpartsofhisdress;listeningwithrevivingspiritstohischeerfulhopesofbeingonshoresomepartofeverydaybeforetheysailed,andevenofgettinghertoSpitheadtoseethesloop。

  AsshenowsatlookingatBetsey,shecouldnotbutthinkparticularlyofanothersister,averyprettylittlegirl,whomshehadlefttherenotmuchyoungerwhenshewentintoNorthamptonshire,whohaddiedafewyearsafterwards。
