  “Yes,“shewhispersagainasgentlyshegivesmeanudge。“Asonepursuesone’slonelywayonethinksandthinks——butofwhat?Dearfriend,youhavesaidthatnoonereallycareswhatisthematter。Ah,HOWtruethatis!“

  Hereshespringstoherfeet,and,pullingmeupwithher,gluesherselftomybreastwithavehemencewhichcausesmemomentarilytopushheraway。Uponthis,burstingintotears,shetendstowardsmeagain,andkissesmewithlipssodryasalmosttocutme——shekissesmeinawaywhichpenetratestomyverysoul。
