  Evenwiththemostselfishdisposition,theVanityFairian,ashewitnessesthissordidpartoftheobsequiesofadepartedfriend,can’tbutfeelsomesympathiesandregret。

  imploring,commanding,bellowing,untildowncomesthehammerlikefate,andwepasstothenextlot。ODives,whowouldeverhavethought,aswesatroundthebroadtablesparklingwithplateandspotlesslinen,tohaveseensuchadishattheheadofitasthatroaringauctioneer?
