  ThespeciesiscloselyalliedtoC。roseanus,butdiffersinitsshortertuberclesandmuchlongerspines。Aboutadozenstemsriseinaclump,aboutafoothigh,coveringanareaof2or3

  feet。ThesetwospeciesrepresentaverydistinctLowerCaliforniangroupofcylindricalandhookedEumamillarias。Bothprobablyhaveshowyscarletflowersandmayattainconsiderablelengthwhengrowinguponrockledgessoastobecomependent。

  ThespecimensofC。setispinusfromSanJulioCanyonarefromyoungerpartsandshowbutasinglelongandhookedcentral。TheSanBorgiaspecimensshowmostly3or4centrals,thelowestonehookedandbecomingremarkablylongandoftenvariouslytwistedandcurved。However,Icandiscovernodifferenceexceptsuchasmaybeduetoage。
