  Thevisiontheydisplayedformyconsiderationastheaimofpublic-

  Oneofthegreatbarrierstohumanunderstandingisthewidetemperamentaldifferenceonefindsinthevaluesofthingsrelatingtosex。Itistheissueuponwhichpeoplemostneedtrainingincharityandimaginativesympathy。Herearenouniversalstandardsatall,andindeedfornosinglemannorwomandoesthereseemtobeanyfixedstandard,somuchdotheaccidentsofcircumstancesandone\'sphysicalphasesaffectone\'sinterpretations。Thereisnothinginthewholerangeofsexualfactthatmaynotseemsupremelybeautifulorhumanlyjollyormagnificentlywickedordisgustingortrivialorutterlyinsignificant,accordingtotheeyethatseesorthemoodthatcolours。Hereissomethingthatmayfilltheskiesandeverywakinghourorbealmostcompletelybanishedfromalife。ItmaybeeverythingonMondayandlessthannothingonSaturday。Andwemakeourlawsandrulesasthoughinthesemattersallmenandwomenwerecommensurableonewithanother,withanequalsteadfastpassionandanequalconstantduty……
