  Thelawyersagainaboutsomenonsense!Whydidthatscentsomakeoneache?Andwherediditcomefrom——therewerenostrawberrybedsonthissideofthehouse。Instinctivelyhetookacrumpledsheetofpaperfromhispocket,andwrotedownsomebrokenwords。Awarmthbeganspreadinginhischest;herubbedthepalmsofhishandstogether。Presentlyhehadjottedthis:

  Andperfectfaith,toJon,notyettwenty,wasessential。HestillhadYouth’seagernesstogivewithbothhands,totakewithneither—
