  asonemorepleasingorpainful;andconsequentlyshouldnotanymorethantheybesupposedtoexistinanunthinkingsubject。

  。Itisjustcomeintomyhead,Philonous,thatIhavesomewhereheardofadistinctionbetweenabsoluteandsensibleextension。Now,thoughitbeacknowledgedthatand,consistingmerelyintherelationwhichotherextendedbeingshavetothepartsofourownbodies,donotreallyinhereinthesubstancesthemselves;yetnothingobligesustoholdthesamewithregardto,whichissomethingabstractedfromand,fromthisorthatparticularmagnitudeorfigure。Solikewiseastomotion;and
