ForsomedayswewerecontenttoenjoylookingatthebluelakeLucerneandatthepiled-upmassesofsnow-mountainsthatborderitallaround——anenticingspectacle,thislast,forthereisastrangeandfascinatingbeautyandcharmaboutamajesticsnow-peakwiththesunblazinguponitorthemoonlightsoftlyenrichingit——butfinallyweconcludedtotryabitofexcursioningaroundonasteamboat,andadashonfootattheRigi。Verywell,wehadadelightfultriptoFluelen,onabreezy,sunnyday。
Everybodysatontheupperdeck,onbenches,underanawning;
everybodytalked,laughed,andexclaimedatthewonderscenery;

Andtheyweresoalmoststraight-up-and-down,sometimes,thatonecouldnotimagineamanbeingabletokeephisfootinguponsuchasurface,yettherearepaths,andtheSwisspeoplegoupanddownthemeveryday。
Sometimesoneofthesemonsterprecipiceshadtheslightinclinationofthehugeship-housesindockyards——
