Theenvoyswerebeautifullyclean,inwhiteBombaycottonclothes,andtheywerequitecivilized,andasintelligentasEuropeans。TheyappearedtohaveathoroughknowledgeoftheroutetoIndia,andthevarioustribesalongtheeasterncoastofequatorialAfrica。

M’tesehadwrittenmeanotherletterinArabic,beggingmetosendhimoneofmysoldiersasmyrepresentative,ifIcouldnotcomepersonally。
TheroadwasnowdeclaredtobepracticallyopenbetweenFatikoandZanzibarbymeansofM’tese’sfriendship。
