  Thewomenandchildrennowapproached,andhesitatinglydeclaredthatthiswastheircountry,andtheirvillageswerenear。Theyevidentlydoubtedmysincerityinrestoringthem,whichhurtmeexceedingly。”Go,mygoodwomen,”Iexclaimed,”andwhenyouarriveatyourhomes,explaintoyourpeoplethatyouwerecapturedentirelyagainstmywill,andthatIamonlyhappytohavereleasedyou。”

  IhaltedthetroopsabouthalfamilefromGondokoro,toallowthemtochangetheirclothes,whenIobservedwiththetelescopesomeoftheEnglishmenapproaching。Severalofmywelcomecountrymenatlengtharrived。”WhereisMr。Higginbotham?”Iasked,asIwaseagertoseemychiefengineerandfriend。

  Iwentonboardtoinspectthenewvesseldirectlyafterbreakfast。Shehadbeenadmirablyconstructed,andbeingdevoidofpaddles,shewouldbeabletoglidethroughthenarrowchannelsoftheBahrGiraffelikeafish。
