  Theycamequickly,sinceIsobelwastoovaluableaclienttobeneglected,arrivingbythesametrain,withtheresultthatthelawyerwaskeptwaitinganhourandahalfbythedressmaker,afactwhichherememberedinhisbill。Whenatlasthisturncame,Isobeldidnotdetainhimlong。

  Thelawyerstaredather,sincesomuchlegalknowledgewasnotcommonamonghisladyclients,andaskedforinstructionsastowhatthedocumentsweretosetout。

  IntheenditwassettledthattheywouldgotoLondonforanight,andthenontoCornwall,whichtheyhopedfondlymightbewarmatthattimeofyear。
