Itwaswithmostmiserableweapons,suchasafewstones,scarcelyevenrough-hewn,andafewflintarrows,thatthecave-mandidnothesitatetoattackthemostformidableanimals,andwithsuchapparentlyinadequatemeanshesucceededinwoundingandevenkillingthem。TheFrenchMuseumpossessesmammothandrhinocerosbonesbearingfinescratchesproducedbytheweaponswhichhadbeenusedtodespatchtheanimals。Themetacarpusofalargebeastofprey,foundatEyzies,retainsmarksnolessclear,andtheskullofabearfrontNabrigashasinitalargewoundwhichmusthavebeenmadebyamissileofsomekind。
