  washelpedbyMr。Loeb,thenmerelyastenographerinmyoffice,butwhohadalreadyattractedmyattentionbothbyhisefficiencyandbyhisloyaltytohisformeremployers,whowereforthemostpartmypoliticalopponents。Mr。Loebgavememuchinformationaboutvariousimproperpracticesintheinsurancebusiness。Ibegantogatherdataonthesubject,withtheintentionofbringingaboutcorrectivelegislation,foratthattimeIexpectedtocontinueinofficeasGovernor。ButinafewweeksIwasnominatedasVice-President,andmysuccessordidnothingaboutthematter。
