  Barry,becauseitharmonisedwithhismood,talkedabouthisfatherandalltheiryearstogetherbuteverwithoutobtrusionofhisgrief。Theexperiencesofthepastthreedays,whichtheyhadshared,seemedtohaveestablishedbetweenthemasenseofmutualconfidenceandcomradeshipsuchasinordinarycircumstanceswouldhavedemandedyearsofcompanionshiptoeffect。Thissenseofsympathyandofperfectunderstandingonthepartofthegirlathisside,togetherwiththefascinatingcharmofherbeauty,andhersweetness,wastoBarry’sstrickenheartlikeahealingbalmtoanachingwound。
