ThenIsawthatitwasmydeardaughterwhohadcomeinthiswonderfulwaytosaveme。Withinfinitehasteshehelpedmetofastenroundmywaistabeltattachedtoarope,whichwascoiledroundher;andthentheman,whowasagiantinstrengthaswellasstature,raisedusbothtotheplatformoftheaeroplane,whichhesetinmotionwithoutaninstant’sdelay。
Withinafewseconds,andwithoutanydiscoverybeingmadeofmyescape,wewerespeedingtowardsthesea。ThelightsofIlsinwereinfrontofus。Beforereachingthetown,however,wedescendedinthemidstofalittlearmyofmyownpeople,whoweregatheredreadytoadvanceupontheSilentTower,theretoeffect,ifnecessary,myrescuebyforce。Smallchancewouldtherehavebeenofmylifeincaseofsuchastruggle。Happily,however,thedevotionandcourageofmydeardaughterandofhergallantcompanionpreventedsuchanecessity。Itwasstrangetometofindsuchjoyousreceptionamongstmyfriendsexpressedinsuchawhisperedsilence。Therewasnotimeforcommentorunderstandingortheaskingofquestions——I
