  IncollectingthefollowingpoemsIhavetothanktheeditorsandproprietorsoftheperiodicalsinwhichcertainofthemhaveappearedforpermissiontoreclaimthem。

  Nowthatthemiscellanyisbroughttogether,somelackofconcordinpieceswrittenatwidelysevereddates,andincontrastingmoodsandcircumstances,willbeobviousenough。ThisIcannothelp,butthesenseofdisconnection,particularlyinrespectofthoselyricspennedinthefirstperson,willbeimmaterialwhenitisborneinmindthattheyaretoberegarded,inthemain,asdramaticmonologuesbydifferentcharacters。
