Couldourmodernspeculation，forceduponusbythefacts，bemoreterselystated？Hehasjustenumeratedthevariousgifts，andwefindthemveryclosetothoseofwhichwehaveexperience。Thereisfirst\"thewordofwisdom，\"\"thewordofknowledge\"and\"faith。\"AllthesetakeninconnectionwiththeSpiritwouldseemtomeanthehighercommunicationsfromtheotherside。Thencomeshealing，whichisstillpractisedincertainconditionsbyahighlyvirilemedium，whohasthepowerofdischargingstrength，losingjustasmuchastheweaklinggains，asinstancedbyChristwhenHesaid：

JustafterIreaditIreceivedaletterfromanolessfamousphysician，whoaskedmyopinionaboutoneofhischildrenwhohadwrittenaconsiderableamountofscriptinmediaevalFrench。Thesetworecentcasesarebeyondalldoubt，butIhavenothadconvincingevidenceofthecasewheresomeunintelligiblesignsdrawnbyanunletteredmanwerepronouncedbyanexperttobeintheOghamorearlyCelticcharacter。AsPage119

ThusthephenomenaassociatedwiththeriseofChristianityandthosewhichhaveappearedduringthepresentspiritualfermentareveryanalogous。Inexaminingthegiftsofthedisciples，asmentionedbyMatthewandMark，theonlyadditionalpointistheraisingofthedead。

NoBiblicalstudentseemstohavegivenasatisfactoryreason。Butanyonewhohasheardamediumgroaningbeforeanygreatmanifestationofpowerwillreadintothispassagejustthattouchofpracticalknowledge，whichwillconvincehimofitstruth。Themiracle，Imayadd，isnonethelesswonderfulorbeyondourhumanpowers，becauseitwaswroughtbyanextensionofnaturallaw，differingonlyindegreewiththatwhichwecanourselvestestandevendo。
