  ThenextdayCaptainShadrachdrovetoOstableandspentseveralhoursinconsultationwithJudgeBaxter。Adjustingmattersbycorrespondenceisaslowprocessatbest,andtheCaptain,havingsurrenderedunconditionally,wasnotthemantodelay。
