  Taylor。MollyandtheVirginianarrivedbearingflowers,andhewassayingthatfewcow-punchershadanyreasonforsavingtheirmoney。

  “Wemostlydon’tlivelongenoughtogetold,ma’am,“saidhe,simply。

  IsupposeIwasslow-sighted。Allthispainsseemedtomelargerthanitsresults。TheyhadimposeduponTommy,yes。Butwhatofthat?HewastobekeptfromgoingbacktoRiversideuntilmorning。Unlesstheyproposedtovisithisemptycabinandplaytricks——butthatwouldbetoochildish,evenforLinMcLean,tosaynothingoftheVirginian,hisoccasionalpartnerinmischief。
