  HenryCrawfordhadtrifledwithherfeelings;butshehadverylongallowedandevensoughthisattentions,withajealousyofhersistersoreasonableasoughttohavebeentheircure;andnowthattheconvictionofhispreferenceforMariahadbeenforcedonher,shesubmittedtoitwithoutanyalarmforMaria’ssituation,oranyendeavouratrationaltranquillityforherself。

  Sheeithersatingloomysilence,wraptinsuchgravityasnothingcouldsubdue,nocuriositytouch,nowitamuse;
