  IfmencouldbringthemselvestolookuponDeathinthismanner,livingwellandwiselytillherinevitableapproach,howvastastoreofgriefandvexationwouldtheysparethemselves!

  Amonggoodomens,oneofthemostconspicuousistomeetapiebaldhorse。Tomeettwooftheseanimalsisstillmorefortunate;andifonsuchanoccasionyouspitthrice,andformanyreasonablewish,itwillbegratifiedwithinthreedays。Itisalsoasignofgoodfortuneifyouinadvertentlyputonyourstockingwrongsideout。Ifyouwilfullywearyourstockinginthisfashion,nogoodwillcomeofit。

  Itisveryluckytosneezetwice;butifyousneezeathirdtime,theomenlosesitspower,andyourgoodfortunewillbenippedinthebud。

  Ifastrangedogfollowyou,andfawnonyou,andwishtoattachitselftoyou,itisasignofverygreatprosperity。Justasfortunateisitifastrangemalecatcomestoyourhouseandmanifestsfriendlyintentionstowardsyourfamily。Ifasheeat,itisanomen,onthecontrary,ofverygreatmisfortune。Ifaswarmofbeesalightinyourgarden,someveryhighhonourandgreatjoysawaityou。

  Besidestheseglimpsesofthefuture,youmayknowsomethingofyourfatebyadiligentattentiontoeveryitchingthatyoumayfeelinyourbody。Thus,iftheeyeorthenoseitches,itisasignyouwillbeshortlyvexed;ifthefootitchesyouwilltreaduponstrangeground;andiftheelbowitches,youwillchangeyourbedfellow。

  Itchingoftheright-handprognosticatesthatyouwillsoonhaveasumofmoney;andoftheleft,thatyouwillbecalledupontodisburseit。
