  IfIamrightinbelievingthegranitetobethecauseoftheelevationofthisridge,thedirectioninwhichthestrikeoftherockstrendstotheN。N。Emayindicatethatthesamegeologicalstructureprevailsfarthernorth,andtwoorthreelakeswhichexistinthatdirectionmaybeofexactlythesamenaturewithLakeNgami,havingbeendiminishedtotheirpresentsizebythesamekindofagencyasthatwhichformedthefallsofVictoria。

  WemetanelephantontheKalomowhichhadnotusksThisisasrareathinginAfricaasitistofindthemwithtusksinCeylonAssoonasshesawusshemadeoffItisremarkabletoseethefearofmanoperatingevenonthishugebeastBuffaloesabound,andweseelargeherdsofthemfeedinginalldirectionsbydayWhenmuchdisturbedbymantheyretireintothedensestpartsoftheforest,andfeedbynightonly。
