  Irememberthedateverywell,foritwasinthesamemonththat

  Holmesrefusedaknighthoodforserviceswhichmayperhapssomedaybe

  described。Ionlyrefertothematterinpassing,forinmyposition

  ofpartnerandconfidantIamobligedtobeparticularlycarefulto

  avoidanyindiscretion。Irepeat,however,thatthisenablesmetofix

  thedate,whichwasthelatterendofJune,1902,shortlyafterthe
