  Itsfirstconsiderablebranch,onthateasternorleftbank,istheAupa,whichrisesinthePassofSchatzlar(greatstrugglingthere,forconvoys,justnow);goesnextbyTrautenau,whichhaslatelybeenburnt;andjoinstheElbeatJaromirz,whereValoriwasstolen,ornearlyso,fromunderthePrussianleftwing。TheAuparunsnearlystraightsouth;theElbe,tillmeetingit,hasrunrathersoutheast;butafterjoiningtheygosouthtogether,augmentedbytheMetau,bytheAdler,downtoPardubitz,wherethefinalturntowestoccurs。Jaromirz,whichliesintheveryangleofElbeandAupa,istheleftwingofFriedrich’sCamp;mainbodyoftheCampliesontheothersideoftheElbe,butofcoursehasbridges(asatSmirzitz,wherethatstrawsentrydidhisprankslately);bridgesareindispensable,partofourprovisioncomingalwaysbythatBOHEMIANNeustadt,fromthenortheastquarteroutofSilesia;thoughthemaincourseofourmeal(andmuchfightingforit)isdirectfromthenorth,bythePassofSchatzlar,——
