  ARELATIONOFTHEHOLYWAR。

  INmytravels,asIwalkedthroughmanyregionsandcountries,itwasmychancetohappenintothatfamouscontinentofUniverse。Averylargeandspaciouscountryitis:itliethbetweenthetwopoles,andjustamidstthefourpointsoftheheavens。Itisaplacewellwatered,andrichlyadornedwithhillsandvalleys,bravelysituate,andforthemostpart,atleastwhereIwas,veryfruitful,alsowellpeopled,andaverysweetair。

  Thepeoplearenotallofonecomplexion,noryetofonelanguage,mode,orwayofreligion,butdifferasmuchas,itissaid,dotheplanetsthemselves。Someareright,andsomearewrong,evenasithappenethtobeinlesserregions。

  Inthiscountry,asIsaid,itwasmylottotravel;andtheretravelIdid,andthatsolong,eventillIlearnedmuchoftheirmothertongue,togetherwiththecustomsandmannersofthemamongwhomIwas。And,tospeaktruth,IwasmuchdelightedtoseeandhearmanythingswhichIsawandheardamongthem;yea,Ihad,tobesure,evenlivedanddiedanativeamongthem,(sowasItakenwiththemandtheirdoings,)hadnotmymastersentformehometohishouse,theretodobusinessforhim,andtooverseebusinessdone。

  NowthereisinthisgallantcountryofUniverseafairanddelicatetown,acorporationcalledMansoul;atownforitsbuildingsocurious,foritssituationsocommodious,foritsprivilegessoadvantageous,(Imeanwithreferencetoitsorigin,)thatImaysayofit,aswassaidbeforeofthecontinentinwhichitisplaced,Thereisnotitsequalunderthewholeheaven。

  Aye,thetownitselfhadpositivecommissionandpowerfromherKingtodemandserviceofall,andalsotosubdueanythatanywaysdeniedtodoit。

  Therewasrearedupinthemidstofthistownamostfamousandstatelypalace;forstrength,itmightbecalledacastle;forpleasantness,aparadise;forlargeness,aplacesocopiousastocontainalltheworld。ThisplacetheKingShaddaiintendedbutforhimselfalone,andnotanotherwithhim;partlybecauseofhisowndelights,andpartlybecausehewouldnotthattheterrorofstrangersshouldbeuponthetown。ThisplaceShaddaimadealsoagarrisonof,butcommittedthekeepingofitonlytothemenofthetown。

  Thewallsofthetownwerewellbuilt,yea,sofastandfirmweretheyknitandcompacttogether,that,haditnotbeenforthetownsmenthemselves,theycouldnothavebeenshakenorbrokenforever。ForherelaytheexcellentwisdomofhimthatbuildedMansoul,thatthewallscouldneverbebrokendownnorhurtbythemostmightyadversepotentate,unlessthetownsmengaveconsentthereto。

  OtherthingstherewerethatbelongedtothetownofMansoul,whichifyouadjointothese,willyetgivefartherdemonstrationtoall,ofthegloryandstrengthoftheplace。

  Well,uponatime,therewasoneDiabolus,amightygiant,madeanassaultuponthisfamoustownofMansoul,totakeit,andmakeithisownhabitation。Thisgiantwaskingoftheblacks,andamostravingprincehewas。Wewill,ifyouplease,firstdiscourseoftheoriginofthisDiabolus,andthenofhistakingofthisfamoustownofMansoul。

  ThisDiabolusisindeedagreatandmightyprince,andyetbothpoorandbeggarly。Astohisorigin,hewasatfirstoneoftheservantsofKingShaddai,made,andtaken,andputbyhimintomosthighandmightyplace;yea,wasputintosuchprincipalitiesasbelongedtothebestofhisterritoriesanddominions。ThisDiaboluswasmade’sonofthemorning,’andabraveplacehehadofit:itbroughthimmuchglory,andgavehimmuchbrightness,anincomethatmighthavecontentedhisLuciferianheart,haditnotbeeninsatiable,andenlargedashellitself。
