fiveportages，whereasitisbut430milestoAlexandria，ifitturnsintotheCuyahoga&passesthroughthat，Bigbeaver，Ohio，YohoganyorMonongahela&Cheat&Patowmac，&therearebuttwoportages。
ForthetradeoftheOhioorthatwhichshallcomeintoitfromit’sownwatersortheMissisipi，itisnearertoAlexandriathantoNewYorkby730miles，andisinterruptedbyoneportageonly。NaturethenhasdeclaredinfavourofthePatowmac，andthroughthatchannelofferstopourintoourlapthewholecommerceoftheWesternworld。
