  “Whod’youset’inkitis-megran’mother?“demandedRhodaGraycaustically。“Whoareyouse?“

  Shebangedthedoorshut,lockedit,andwhippedoutthekey。Ithadtakenscarcelyasecond。Shewasstillscreechingatthetopofhervoicetocovertheabsenceofflyingfootersonthestairs。“Run,dearie,run!Run!“

  Andthen,inthedarkness,thecandlestillunlighted,RoughRorkewasonherlikeamadman。Withasweepofhisarmhesenthercrashingtothefloor,andwrenchedatthedoor。Thenextinstanthewasonheragain。
