  Sheworkedquicklynow。Inamomentshewasatthewindowportieres,and,drawingtheseaside,shequietlyraisedthewindow,andlookedout。Thewindowwasonthesideofthehouseawayfromthecrossstreet,andshenoddedherheadreassuringlytoherselfasshenotedthatitgaveonanarrowstripofgrass,itcouldnotbecalledlawn,thatseparatedtheHayden-Bondmansionfromthehousenextdoor;thatthewindowwaslittlemorethanshoulder-highfromtheground;andthattheAvenuewaswithineasyandinvitingreachalongthatlittlestripofgrassbetweenthetwohouses。
