Theprospectofpassingawayfromthisfairandbeautifulworldthuscamebeforemeinaprettyplain，matter-of-factform，anditdidseemaseriousthingtoleavewifeandchildrentobreakupallconnectionwithearth，andenteronanuntriedstateofexistence；
andIfindmyselfinmyjournalponderingoverthatfearfulmigrationwhichlandsusineternity，wonderingwhetheranangelwillsoothetheflutteringsoul，sadlyflurriedasitmustbeonenteringthespiritworld，andhopingthatJesusmightspeakbutonewordofpeace，forthatwouldestablishinthebosomaneverlastingcalm。
ButasIhadalwaysbelievedthat，ifweserveGodatall，itoughttobedoneinamanlyway，Iwrotetomybrother，commendingourlittlegirltohiscare，asIwasdeterminedto“succeedorperish“intheattempttoopenupthispartofAfricaTheBoers，bytakingpossessionofallmygoods，hadsavedmethetroubleofmakingawill；and，consideringthelightheartnowleftinmybosom，andsomefainteffortstoperformthedutyofChristianforgiveness，Ifeltthatitwasbettertobetheplunderedpartythanoneoftheplunderers。
WhenIcommittedthewagonandremaininggoodstothecareoftheMakololo，theytookallthearticlesexceptoneboxintotheirhuts；
